Eli Maurice has several years of international experience in corporate finance, venture capital, and investment banking. Prior to founding Gate Ventures, he worked at Clairfield International, a cross-border M&A advisory firm. At Clarifield, he supported merger and acquisition engagements through financial analysis and modeling, market research, and the production of confidential information memoranda. He was responsible for managing deal flow and other strategic advisory initiatives. Mr. Maurice’s earlier experience includes investment banking and corporate finance positions.
Neal joined Gate Ventures in 2025 as Partner and Head of Debt. He brings a unique combination of investment banking, private equity, private credit, and hands-on operating experience in technology.
He began his career in leveraged and structured finance at Standard Bank, advising on and executing debt transactions for large corporates, before moving into private equity and alternative investment roles focused on growth and special situations. He later co-founded and operated a U.S.-based working capital and receivables finance business, gaining deep exposure to operational credit and invoice-level underwriting. Neal also served as CFO/COO of a SaaS fintech company.
This blend of investor and operator experience enables him to advise technology companies on all forms of debt solutions with a pragmatic, founder-aligned approach.
